On Monday, March 8th I started work for Sore Thumb Inc., a digital marketing agency based out of Toronto.
I am so stoked to be working in this small-scale agency doing some very exciting design projects. So far, I've worked on designing websites from scratch, creating digital marketing ads, and laying out concepts for short animation videos. I love that there's a high variety of work and lots of creativity involved.
My title is "Lead Project Manager and Graphic Designer" and I'm starting out working just 20 hours a week (YAY!). It's a permanent position and hours will likely increase over the next year or so, but for now, I am very happy to still have lots of time to ski, play tennis, bask in the sun, and keep up some of my freelance clients.
My schedule is Monday-Thursday, 8 am to 1 pm. So every weekend is a long weekend and I still have lots of daylight when I'm finished.
Before all you Toronto folks ask: no this doesn't mean I'm moving back to Toronto any time soon! Sorry...
I'll keep you updated on how it's all going, but for now, I couldn't be happier with this new chapter.

My home "office" set-up, including the laptop stand I built, very shabby but it does the job (and only cost $5 in materials)!
WAY TO GO JULIA! Maybe a move to halifax
Hehe you wish!
Congratulations, Julia, on your new job and the fancy title! We are both very happy for you. The sturdy homemade stand may have only cost $5 in materials but the fancy MacBook Pro it is supporting must have cost a bundle. We hope the digital marketing agency in Toronto is paying you well!
Thank you, Peter! The computer is definitely fancy, it’s got that terrible touch bar 😛
WAHOO! Sounds amazing Julia. Fun, fast-paced and interesting and best of all allow time for skiing and outdoor pursuits!!!!
Yess, the perfect balance I hope!
Yay!! So happy for you 🙂 They are lucky to have ya!
Thanks, Shannon!!!
