Marcus and I are celebrating our seventh anniversary. I can't possibly find the words to reflect on these past seven years--there are just too many memories. Instead, I've gathered seven photos, one from each year.
This was a difficult task, and I've had to leave out so many of my favourites. But it's a wonderful way to look back on the adventures, growth, and love we've shared since we met when we were just 18 years old in 2014.
2014
This photo was taken just hours after I met Marcus on Halloween in 2014.

2015
Flirting in the printmaking studio at Emily Carr's Granville Island campus.

2016
A busy year! Marcus and I spent the summer in Montreal, the fall semester on exchange in Edinburgh, and our winter holidays in Barcelona. (This photo was taken in a Glasgow museum).

2017
A picnic in Queen Elizabeth Park the summer after Marcus's hit and run.

2018
One of many hair cuts over the years, this one took place on the balcony of our Vancouver apartment.

2019
A tin-type photograph taken as a birthday present for me.

2020
Cycling on a crisp January day in Vancouver after a visit to the sauna at Hillcrest Pool.

2021
Night hike to Ymir Peak outside of Nelson during the summer heat dome.

You and Marcus make a very lovely couple! While there are many special photos, I think my favourite image is the tin-type photo taken for your birthday in 2019. There is something timeless about it. It could have been taken at any period since the dawn of photography.
Thanks, Peter! I agree– it was so cool to experience that process how it would have been done in the late 1800s!
Every one of these resonates for me, Julia. It’s really wonderful to look back and feel how the years have passed.
